Maru | Branding

We were approached by Maru to create a logo for their brand, which wanted to fill a gap in the men’s activewear market. Men who want to feel comfortable, yet still look stylish in any environment. The “maru” term (pronounced “ma-roo”) refers to a circle. For them the name Maru represents balance, in the same way, a circle is perfectly balanced, simple in design, and flawless.

Circle + Running Track + “M” = The Maru Way of Movement. The logo has a sense of motion and balance. As that is the core aspect of what Maru represents. We wanted to visually symbolise Maru’s values in a clean and unfurnished way; Movement, Versatility and Quality.

We focussed on forming a logo around their mission and what Maru means to them. It resulted in a bold, simple design that speaks to their target audience – men with an active lifestyle, who want versatile garments that cater for both performance and leisure wear.
